Privacy Policy

Wordish helps you learn vocabulary without creating a sign-in account. We store information about your profile, learning activity, and access to paid features so the app can work. This policy explains what we collect, who processes it, and your choices.

Who is responsible

Wordish is operated by Oluwatobi Ogunleye. For privacy questions or requests, email [email protected]. This policy covers the Wordish app and wordish.app.

Your profile and learning activity

We collect the information you enter during onboarding and in your profile. This includes your name, age range, gender response, interests, learning goals, preferences, and vocabulary assessment answers and results. We use it to personalize your words and learning experience. You can use a nickname.

We store learning activity such as words viewed, learned or saved, daily completions, streaks, quizzes, and reminder preferences. Some information is stored on your device, and profile and progress information is sent to our servers to support the app.

Your installation identifier

The app creates a random identifier for your installation. We use it to connect your profile, learning progress, subscription access, analytics, and referrals. It is not an advertising identifier, but the records linked to it are not anonymous. Reinstalling the app does not guarantee that your previous progress can be recovered.

Purchases and free access

Apple processes iOS purchases. RevenueCat processes purchase and entitlement information, including product and transaction identifiers, subscription status, renewal and expiry information, and trial or promotional access, linked to your installation identifier. We use this to provide and restore access and resolve purchase problems. We do not receive your payment-card details.

Referrals

If you use an invitation, we store the invite code, the relationship between the inviting and invited installations, qualifying onboarding and learning activity, and reward status and expiry. The inviter can see referral counts and reward progress, which may reveal that someone used their invitation or completed the qualifying activity. We do not provide them with your profile answers or detailed learning history.

Our referral service processes IP addresses to limit abusive requests. It stores a time-limited hash for rate limiting rather than the raw address in its referral rate-limit records. Hosting providers may separately process network information as described below. Sharing an invitation uses the app or service you choose; Wordish does not need access to your contacts.

Analytics and technical information

Where analytics is enabled, we use PostHog to understand app usage and improve Wordish. Events can include screens visited, learning actions, onboarding steps, paywall interactions, purchase outcomes, and referral activity, together with the installation identifier and technical information such as app version and device or operating-system information. PostHog also supports feature flags and experiments.

You can turn off analytics using the Marketing & analytics setting in the app. This stops optional app event reporting; it does not stop the processing needed for purchases, syncing, referrals, security, or responding to you. Hosting and service providers may process IP addresses, request details, and operational logs to deliver and protect the service.

We do not sell personal information or use advertising identifiers for advertising. We do not use your app activity for advertising across other companies' apps or websites.

Reminders and support

Wordish schedules reminders locally on your device when you allow notifications. You can change the schedule in the app or disable notifications in your device settings.

If you contact support, we receive your email address and the information you send. Please do not send payment-card details or other information we do not need to handle your request.

Service providers and sharing

• Cloudflare: hosts our website and backend and stores app data.
• RevenueCat: processes subscription and promotional access information.
• PostHog: processes analytics and supports feature flags and experiments.
• Apple: operates the App Store and processes iOS purchases under its own policies.

Providers process information to perform these services. We may also disclose information when required by law or when necessary to investigate abuse, protect users, or establish or defend legal claims. We do not publish your learning profile.

International processing and legal grounds

Our providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Privacy laws in those countries may differ from those where you live. Where required, transfers must use safeguards recognized by applicable law.

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process information to provide the service you request, with your consent where required, to meet legal obligations, or for legitimate interests such as securing and improving Wordish, subject to your rights. You may withdraw consent for optional processing without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Retention and deletion

Profile and learning records remain on our servers unless deleted; uninstalling Wordish does not automatically remove them. We retain records needed to provide access, handle support and transactions, prevent repeat referral abuse, and meet legal obligations. Retention depends on the purpose and applicable requirements. We do not currently apply an automatic inactivity-based deletion schedule.

You can request deletion in Profile → Your data → Delete my data. Wordish verifies the installation using a securely stored credential. Once the request is accepted, we remove your profile and learning records, clear local app data, and queue deletion requests with RevenueCat and PostHog. Provider processing may take additional time, and failed requests are retried. We retain a minimal revoked installation identifier and credential hash to prevent stale requests from restoring deleted data.

For access, correction, or help with deletion, email [email protected]. We may need information that lets us locate and verify your installation before acting. Because there is no sign-in account, an email address alone may not identify your app records. Please contact us before uninstalling if you want help locating them.

A local reset is not a request to delete server or provider records. Deleting app data also does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage that separately in your Apple Account. Some records may need to be retained for legal, security, or transaction purposes, and Apple manages its own purchase records.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your information, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, and complain to your local privacy regulator. Contact us to exercise these rights. We will respond within the period required by applicable law.

Children

Wordish is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate. Additional age or parental-consent requirements may apply where you live.

Changes

We will update this page and its date when our practices change. For material changes, we will provide additional notice or request consent where required.
